Trail Management

Our professional trail management is always in action so as to maintain the walking trails in the best possible condition and to guarantee a carefree hiking enjoyment. The paths are checked by volunteers at least twice a year, the trail markers are renewed , damaged trail signs replaced and the trails repaired.

Should you notice any damage or a trail marker missing, we would be pleased if you could inform us, kauf@pfalz.de!

Safety instructions

In spite of the well-signposted trails , we always recommend taking a corresponding hiking map with you so that, for example, when a storm occurs you can either find shelter or get out of the woods quickly. Especially in the autumn it is also important to remember that leaves lying on the ground can conceal irregularities, such as  roots, rocks or holes in the path. Following storms, trees can have been uprooted or have branches hanging down. Such path impairments have to be expected  when using such trails . Should you be of the opinion that certain trail sections are not accessible then these should be avoided. Especially in adverse weather conditions, these natural trails are liable to be muddy and slippery.

Notes for horse riders and mountain bikers

We are pleased that you are also interested in the Pfälzer Prädikatsfernwege but have to remind you that these are hikers’ trails. The presence of horses or mountain bikes can endanger hikers and their companions. The resulting conflicts are unfortunately not uncommon and for this purpose there is a legal basis:

§ 22 paragraph 3 sentence 1 of the LWaldG allows bike riding and horse riding only on roads and forest paths. Forest paths, in the sense of the law, are in accordance with § 3 para. 7 LWaldG not open to public transport, and are forest service roads. Hiking trails are therefore not forest roads within the meaning of the law.

We would therefore ask you, in your own interest, not to use the trails on bikes or horses.
